The plate and pack operation is responsible for the portioning of meal components, sealing of meal trays, x-ray, weight check, label application, case packaging, and palletizing of finished meals. The line lead works with their leadership to monitor and maintain production on the line in a safe and efficient manner. The line lead will assign team members duties within the department, provide hands on training to employees, complete production logs, quality records, and troubleshoot line upsets as needed. The line lead will be a team player to work collaboratively with kitchen, quality, warehouse and maintenance to achieve the dayβs production targets. The line lead will solve technical problems, resolve conflicts, and achieve results through growing and developing team members in the department. The line lead may need to interface with in plant USDA inspectors. This position may require team members to spend the entirety of their shift in a cold environment 34ΛF - 40ΛF
Shift times are M-Th 4:30pm - 3:00am
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
β’ Communicate effectively and regularly with team members and leaders
β’ Adhere to strict safety, quality, and production standards including food safety and sanitation guidelines
β’ Teach, coach, motivate, and lead team members to perform at the highest level
β’ Collaborate with leadership and the production team to achieve business results
β’ Ensure team member adherence to all safety, quality, and production standards
β’ Assign team membersβ tasks to ensure all job duties are completed
β’ Inspect equipment cleanliness, configuration, and setpoints prior to production
β’ Verify processed product counts and complete the required paperwork
β’ Complete inventory of materials to determine efficient planning of schedule demands
β’ Organize the team breaks to optimize efficiency and coverage of the line
β’ Collaborate with leadership to accomplish the dayβs objectives
β’ Assist supervisor in preparation for the shift hand-off meeting for the oncoming shift
β’ Utilize safety equipment and consistently demonstrate all food safety and personal safety guidelines
β’ Take the initiative to solve imperfections before they become problems
β’ Collaborate with maintenance to ensure priority and window of opportunity for repair
β’ Interface with USDA or regulatory representatives as necessary
β’ Complete powered industrial truck certification
β’ Provide break or vacancy coverage for P & P III, P & P II, OP I as required
Required skills and experience
β’ Must be at least 18 years old
β’ 1-2 years' food manufacturing leadership experience, or strong non-restaurant leadership experience
β’ Pass a post offer drug screen and background check
β’ Must be able to work 12-hour shifts
β’ Must be able to work weekends, holidays, overnights, or OT as required
β’ Be able to work in varying temperatures between 34ΛF - 70ΛF
β’ Initiative and ability to work with little supervision
β’ Must have experience with Microsoft/computers
β’ Must have problem-solving and reasoning skills
β’ Prior manufacturing experience
β’ Must have good food safety and workplace safety record
β’ Initiative and team leadership skills
β’ Must be able to speak/read/write in English fluently
β’ Able to train and coach new employees on tasks
Preferred skills and experience
β’ Associate degree or trade school
β’ Prior machine operation using production processing or packaging experience
β’ Scanning and AX/inventory experience
β’ Experience using forklifts and pallet jacks
β’ Bilingual in (English/Spanish)
β’ Demonstrated commitment to safety and following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)/food safety rules
