About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join our team at Monks Technology Services. This role involves serving as a principal technical contributor across multiple client engagements, owning architecture decisions, and delivering high-performance backend systems.
Key Responsibilities
- →Define and lead the technical vision for complex projects, driving architecture, design patterns, and implementation strategy
- →Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend services and APIs for high-availability production environments
- →Serve as a hands-on expert contributor across the backend stack, primarily using Ruby/Ruby on Rails, Golang, and Python
- →Architect and manage AWS cloud infrastructure, with deep ownership of Kubernetes container orchestration on EKS
- →Implement Infrastructure-as-Code and operational automation using Pulumi to ensure repeatable, reliable environments
- →Champion DevSecOps best practices across the delivery lifecycle, including CI/CD, security controls, and release automation
- →Modernize and support legacy platforms, including troubleshooting, optimizing, and migrating LAMP-based environments
- →Drive engineering quality through code reviews, technical mentorship, and establishing team-wide best practices
- →Partner directly with clients to clarify requirements, communicate tradeoffs, and present solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements
- ✓14+ years of relevant work experience in software engineering, including senior technical leadership
- ✓Strong backend engineering expertise, with demonstrable production experience in at least two of: Ruby, Golang, Python
- ✓Deep AWS experience, including hands-on Kubernetes expertise with EKS
- ✓DevSecOps proficiency, including building/operating CI/CD pipelines and embedding security practices into delivery workflows
- ✓Infrastructure-as-Code experience with Pulumi and practical use of GitOps principles
- ✓Expert understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and common design patterns
- ✓Consultative communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
- ✓Mentorship and collaboration strengths, with a track record of elevating team performance and engineering standards
