About the Role
The Automation Engineer at Natera will join a cross-functional team developing a scalable platform for next-generation clinical assays. This role involves designing and building automated systems that integrate software, automation, and biology for clinical genomics applications.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design, develop, and build systems that integrate software, automation, and biology into a robust clinical genomics assay platform
- →Work with scientists at the assay prototype stage to ensure optimal design of chemistry and laboratory hardware
- →Collaborate with internal software development teams for seamless integration of LIMS with automation software
- →Interface with external vendors to design custom hardware solutions and integrate external software
- →Establish the foundation and architecture for fully-automated laboratory systems at Natera
- →Write documentation and SOPs, and train engineers on hardware and software systems
Requirements
- ✓BA/BS or MS in Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- ✓4 or more years of experience in automation and systems development for the life science industry
- ✓Demonstrated track record of shipping complex automation projects in production
- ✓Experience integrating instruments like liquid handlers, plate readers, and robotics
- ✓Software development experience or familiarity with software development practices
- ✓Experience with programming and operating liquid handlers (Beckman, Tecan, Hamilton, etc.)
