We are seeking a Sr. Azure Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is responsible for architecting, deploying, and managing secure, scalable, and resilient Azure cloud infrastructure, with a focus on ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery for critical workloads. You will lead DR solution design and implementation, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align DR strategies with enterprise standards and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep technical expertise, a passion for automation, and a commitment to operational excellence.
Your role in our mission:
Azure Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering:
β’ Design, implement, and manage robust Azure infrastructure solutions, including compute, networking, storage, and security components.
β’ Deploy and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as ARM, Bicep, Terraform, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
β’ Optimize infrastructure for performance, availability, and cost, ensuring alignment with the Microsoft Well-Architected Framework.
Disaster Recovery & Azure Site Recovery (ASR):
β’ Architect and implement end-to-end DR solutions leveraging Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and DRaaS models.
β’ Define and enforce RTO/RPO objectives, failover/failback procedures, and test plans.
β’ Configure cross-region replication, paired-region resilience, and failover routing using Azure Traffic Manager and Front Door.
β’ Integrate ASR and Azure Backup with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Automation Accounts for proactive monitoring and alerting.
β’ Maintain and automate DR runbooks, documentation, and IaC repositories in Azure DevOps or Git.
β’ Lead DR drills, validation, and continuous improvement of DR processes.
Security, Compliance & Governance:
β’ Implement governance, security, and compliance through Azure Policy, Blueprints, and RBAC.
β’ Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability management, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
β’ Support advanced networking (hub-and-spoke, hybrid connectivity) and identity/access management (AAD, RBAC, AD sync, MFA).
Automation & DevOps:
β’ Automate deployments, patching, and monitoring using Azure DevOps, PowerShell, or Bash scripting.
β’ Collaborate with development and DevOps teams for CI/CD and environment management.
β’ Drive observability improvements by ensuring comprehensive logging and telemetry.
Incident Response & Operational Excellence:
β’ Lead real-time incident resolution, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and participate in on-call rotation.
β’ Provide escalation support during DR events and critical incidents.
β’ Document recurring issues and resolutions, contributing to a shared knowledge base.
Valued skills and experience:
Certifications:
β’ Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification is mandatory (if you do not currently have one, you will need to go thru one)
β’ Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent preferred.
Education:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
β’ Minimum 5 years in enterprise-level Azure infrastructure engineering, with at least 2 years focused on DR/ASR solutions.
Technical Proficiency:
β’ Deep expertise in Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, and DRaaS.
β’ Advanced proficiency in Terraform, ARM/Bicep templates, and Infrastructure as Code.
β’ Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Azure CLI).
β’ Hands-on experience with Azure networking, security, and monitoring tools.
β’ Familiarity with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
β’ Experience with hybrid cloud DR (on-prem to Azure) is a plus.
Soft Skills:
β’ Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
β’ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, globally distributed team.
