New Relic is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Demo Engineering team in Bengaluru, India. This role is a critical part of the Technical Marketing organization, where you will build and maintain the production-level demo environments used to showcase our platform's innovation to the world.
We are looking for a curious, self-driven engineer who views a Jira ticket as a starting point for a larger solution. You will thrive here if you enjoy researching complex technical challenges, forming a hypothesis, and defending your architectural decisions within a globally distributed team. You will have the support of a local peer in Bengaluru and documented engineering standards to ensure your success.
What youβll do
β’ Drive Platform Innovation: Own the availability and performance of the demo platform, ensuring it remains a scalable foundation for Sales and Marketing.
β’ Execute with Autonomy: Research potential solutions for platform bottlenecks and present defended technical recommendations rather than waiting for instruction.
β’ Automate Everything: Create and maintain automated deployment pipelines and load generation profiles to ensure our systems are "always-on" and easy to deploy.
β’ Communicate Clearly: Document your findings and processes in Confluence runbooks and maintain active, transparent communication across Slack to bridge global time zones.
β’ Maintain Engineering Excellence: Perform production redeployments, conduct smoke tests for new features, and ensure every code change meets our established DevOps best practices.
This role requires
β’ 2+ years of Kubernetes Administration: Proven experience managing containerized environments.
β’ 2+ years of Cloud Infrastructure: Experience administering environments in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
β’ 1+ years of Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on automation experience using Terraform.
β’ 1+ years of CI/CD Tooling: Experience with automation tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or CircleCI.
β’ Programming Familiarity: Proficiency in at least one language, such as Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
β’ Ownership Mindset: A track record of taking full accountability for solutions and responding to help tickets using SRE methodologies.
Bonus points if you have
Load Generation Experience: Familiarity with tools like Locust or Chaos Toolkit to simulate realistic traffic patterns.Front-end Exposure: Experience with browser development or technologies like React and JavaScript.Open Source Contribution: A history of contributing to or working with open-source projects.Collaborative Spirit: A "connected" approach to work, valuing partnership with Product Managers and Engineers across time zones.
