β°οΈ About Northslope
The generational companies of the next century will run on mission-specific AI software that compounds their competitive advantage, not commoditized SaaS. We purpose-build production AI applications that enable our customers to operate at the speed, scale, and margins of an enterprise software company, in any industry.
We're building something fundamentally different: software that's as adaptable as the businesses it serves, created by engineers who understand both code and customer.
π οΈ The Role
As part of the small and fast-growing Operations function at Northslope, you'll build the software, automation, and systems that power the foundational infrastructure keeping the company running as we scale to 200+ employees. This is a hybrid role: half operational problem-solving across real business domains, half writing code to automate, streamline, and eliminate manual work. You won't follow standard playbooks or rely on "how things are usually done." You'll identify operational bottlenecks, then build the tools and automation to solve them.
Day to day, you'll tackle a wide range of operational domains: equity plan and cap table administration, fundraising operations, international entity setup, IT security and tooling, recruiting systems and vendor management, multi-jurisdictional employment and benefits compliance, government procurement, and more. But instead of just managing these processes manually, you'll write Python scripts to automate repetitive workflows, build internal tools and apps that make the team faster, leverage AI and LLM capabilities to handle operational complexity at scale, and explore how Palantir Foundry and AIP can be applied to internal operations challenges. You'll be the person who sees a manual, error-prone process and turns it into a reliable, automated system.
This role requires someone who is equally comfortable digging into equity administration or international entity formation as they are writing a Python script or shipping an internal tool. You'll need to learn quickly across unfamiliar domains, make decisions autonomously, and constantly iterate. The best candidate will see every operational challenge as an engineering problem waiting to be solved.
π― What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in operations, software engineering, or a hybrid of both, ideally at a high-growth startup or fast-paced company. You've owned complex projects end-to-end and know what it takes to scale through rapid growth.
- Strong coding ability. You write clean, functional Python and SQL. You've built internal tools, automation scripts, or lightweight applications. You're comfortable picking up new frameworks and APIs quickly.
- End-to-end outcome owner. You don't just coordinate or track tasks. You own problems completely, from understanding requirements through execution and follow-through. You're accountable for getting things done, not just managing the process.
- Entrepreneurial ownership mindset. You don't need detailed instructions or constant check-ins. You see a problem, you own it end-to-end, and you drive it to completion. You're comfortable operating with ambiguity and building systems from scratch.
- Excited about using AI/LLM tools to solve real problems. You've experimented with tools like Claude, GPT, or similar and can see how they apply to messy, real-world operational workflows. You're not just curious about AI; you've actually used it to get things done.
- Excited about operational complexity. You're genuinely energized by the work of keeping a growing business running smoothly across multiple jurisdictions. Equity administration, fundraising closings, international entity setup, and IT security aren't chores to you. They're interesting puzzles to solve, and even better when you can automate them.
- Exceptional execution across technical and non-technical work. You can juggle many concurrent workstreams without dropping balls. You're hyper-organized, detail-oriented, and maintain high quality even when moving fast, whether you're writing code or drafting a compliance filing.
- Bias toward iteration and automation. You ship quickly, gather feedback, and improve continuously. When you see a manual process, your instinct is to automate it. Nothing is ever "set it and forget it."
- Strong communication and judgment. You build trust easily with employees, vendors, and external partners. You know when to escalate issues and when to handle them independently. You can synthesize complex information and explain it clearly.
- Comfortable with multi-jurisdictional complexity. We have employees across the US, UK, and Canada, with operations in 10+ US states. You're energized (not overwhelmed) by managing compliance, legal, and operational work across multiple jurisdictions.
- Fast, curious learner. You'll encounter unfamiliar domains (equity mechanics, government procurement, international employment law, IT security tooling). You're comfortable diving in and figuring things out quickly.
- Strong preference for working in-person from our New York or London office. We believe in-person collaboration makes us stronger, and we're building an office culture people want to be part of.
π What We Offer
- Competitive base salary + equity in the form of stock options
- Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance (inclusive of dental and vision) and 401k matching
- The opportunity to build solutions, systems, and software from the ground up as we scale
- A small, tight-knit team where your contributions directly impacts our ability to execute on our mission
- Occasional travel (less than 10% of your time) for company off-sites where you'll connect with teams across our New York and London hubs
πΈ Our Principles
- Only Valuable Problems: Not every problem is worth solving. We work on the projects that will significantly improve our customers' bottom lines.
- Outcomes, Not Activity: We create value, not extract it. We focus on our business impact, not racking up billable hours.
- Forward Deployed Engineering: We never build in a vacuum. We go to the heart of the problem and build alongside our users.
- One size fits none. Generic software fails the most important customers. We build for the specific β the exact industry, workflow, data, and competitive context of the company we're serving.
