About the Role
Weβre hiring an Infrastructure Operations Engineer to ensure the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of our data centre infrastructure.
This role sits within Infrastructure Operations and reports to the Infrastructure Operations Manager. Youβll work closely with cross-functional teams on infrastructure projects, capacity planning, infrastructure optimisation, and customer support, while also supporting colleagues across other Nscale data centres as needed.
This is a high-impact role for someone who combines strong technical depth with sound judgement, organisation, and leadership. Youβll help maintain service availability, support rapid incident response, and drive long-term operational improvements that matter to both our customers and the wider business.
What you'll be doing
Infrastructure Projects & Operational Delivery
β’ Manage infrastructure projects, including installations and upgrades
β’ Support deployments and operational tasks across additional data centres as required
β’ Adapt to customer-driven operational demands, including specialist support outside core business hours
β’ Travel to other Nscale data centres to assist colleagues and support business needs
Critical Systems Monitoring & Reliability
β’ Monitor critical systems including power, cooling, and network connectivity
β’ Maintain data centre infrastructure to support efficiency, reliability, and scalability
β’ Respond to critical incidents during out-of-business hours when required
β’ Work shifts and participate in on-call cover as part of operational support
Incident Management & Customer Support
β’ Handle escalated customer support issues in line with business SLA requirements
β’ Investigate major incidents to identify root causes
β’ Recommend long-term fixes to prevent repeat issues
β’ Provide specialist technical support when customer needs require extended coverage
Automation & Continuous Improvement
β’ Design automation scripts and tools to optimise operational processes
β’ Implement automation solutions using relevant tooling and scripting capabilities
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams on capacity planning initiatives
β’ Drive infrastructure optimisation through practical, scalable improvements
KPIs
β’ Service availability and reliability
β’ SLA adherence on escalated customer support issues
β’ Major incident root cause analysis and long-term fix implementation
β’ Infrastructure project delivery for installations and upgrades
About You
β’ 4+ years of experience in data centre environments
β’ Expertise in server administration, virtualization, and networking protocols
β’ Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, or Python
β’ Hands-on server experience within a tech organisation
β’ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
β’ Advanced technical certifications
β’ Ability to make decisions on complex topics in ambiguous, results-driven environments
β’ Confidence influencing without authority and building relationships with senior stakeholders
β’ Highly organised, diligent, and able to move work forward independently
β’ Strong customer service ethic; exposure to large-scale data centre environments is a plus
