About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Engineer who is passionate about building robust orchestration systems, idempotent APIs, and high-quality developer tooling. This role is part of the Platform Control team that enables Auth0 engineers to deploy and manage services on AWS and Azure, with a huge impact on the infrastructure that allows Auth0 to scale.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design and develop the Control Server, API, and CLI that manage the lifecycle of thousands of environments, from creation to decommissioning.
- →Build logic for automated rollbacks, hotfixes, and release patching to ensure safe and reversible deployments.
- →Develop automated provisioners for product teams to utilize and spin up high-fidelity test environments without manual intervention.
- →Implement Event Publishing for platform entities to broadcast changes to environment state reliably.
- →Ensure the platform CLI and API are intuitive, well-documented, and provide clear feedback during complex operations.
- →Collaborate with Product, Platform, Security, and Quality Engineering teams to translate business requirements into automated workflows.
- →Participate in the team's goalie rotation for production incidents requiring build support.
Requirements
- ✓5+ years of software development experience, specifically building APIs, CLI tools, or backend orchestration logic.
- ✓Proficiency in Golang (core language for control plane services).
- ✓Deep understanding of distributed systems patterns, including idempotency, state machines, and eventual consistency.
- ✓Demonstrable expertise managing cloud resources (AWS/Azure) via code for automated provisioning.
- ✓Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) or OIDC/OAuth2 flows.
- ✓Prioritize developer experience, understanding the impact of CLI error messages and auth flows on productivity.
- ✓Tier-1 Service mindset: write code that handles edge cases, network partitions, and partial failures gracefully.
- ✓Tend to deliver work incrementally to get feedback and iterate over solutions.
- ✓Relentless passion for ownership, accountability, and delivering highly reliable and performant systems.
