About the Role
We are looking for a Data Scientist to join OpenAI's API team. You'll build measurement systems to improve our platform, define key metrics, and translate data into product decisions that enhance reliability and developer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- →Own the core KPI framework for the API platform, covering developer adoption, engagement, retention, and platform health
- →Build end-to-end funnels to identify where developers succeed or get stuck
- →Define and operationalize platform guardrails like reliability, latency, and error rates
- →Design and evaluate experiments to measure the impact of platform changes
- →Partner with product and engineering teams to improve data quality and metrics
- →Translate complex analysis into actionable insights for leadership
- →Develop dashboards and self-serve data products
- →Establish data science standards for measuring AI platform performance
- →Share learnings with other data scientists across the company
Requirements
- ✓10+ years of experience in data science roles
- ✓Expertise in statistics and causal inference
- ✓Expert-level SQL and proficiency in Python
- ✓Experience designing and interpreting experiments
- ✓Experience building metrics and data pipelines
- ✓Experience with business intelligence tools like Tableau
- ✓Strong product sense and impact-driven mindset
- ✓Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders
- ✓Strong communication skills
