About the Role
We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to own and evolve the Windows experience for the Codex desktop app and IDE extension. This role focuses on building end-to-end features across the Electron app and ensuring reliable operation across varied Windows environments.
Key Responsibilities
- →Build end-to-end features across the Electron app (UI + Node/TypeScript backend layers)
- →Design robust integrations with the Codex CLI and app server (Rust)
- →Own IPC architecture and process orchestration
- →Build and maintain Windows packaging and distribution pipelines
- →Ensure reliable operation across varied environments including native Windows and WSL-based setups
- →Manage filesystem and process boundaries between Windows and WSL environments
- →Improve reliability and debuggability through logging, tracing, and performance tooling
Requirements
- ✓Strong TypeScript/Node fundamentals and experience owning product features end-to-end
- ✓Experience building or distributing Windows desktop applications (Electron or similar)
- ✓Understanding of Windows-specific packaging, signing, and update flows
- ✓Comfort with spawning and managing native processes on Windows
- ✓Experience with WSL interop (filesystem paths, process boundaries)
- ✓Experience in enterprise Windows environments (proxies, Defender, GPO constraints)
- ✓Interest in IPC patterns and local orchestration of long-running tasks
- ✓Strong product judgment and ability to make complex systems feel dependable and fast
