About the Role
We are looking for a Legal Solutions Architect to design, build, and scale AI-native systems that power OpenAI’s Legal function. This role combines legal operations, enterprise architecture, business intelligence, and applied AI to architect workflows that integrate traditional legal systems with agentic, model-driven automation using OpenAI’s API and agent builder platform.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design and implement agentic legal workflows incorporating multi-step reasoning, tool-calling, orchestration, and human-in-the-loop review using OpenAI models and APIs.
- →Build systems where agents can triage and route legal intake, extract and normalize contract data, apply playbooks, and interact with downstream systems.
- →Define guardrails around autonomy, review thresholds, and escalation paths.
- →Serve as the primary architect of the legal technology stack, including CLM, OCM, and intake systems.
- →Design data flows that ensure legal data is structured, governed, and suitable for analytics.
- →Configure, extend, and support API-based integrations across legal systems and enterprise tools.
Requirements
- ✓7+ years of experience in legal engineering, solutions architecture, or complex enterprise systems integration.
- ✓Strong hands-on experience with API integration and middleware (REST APIs, JSON, webhooks).
- ✓Comfort with light scripting or automation (Python, SQL, or similar).
- ✓Deep experience with CLM systems in a complex legal environment.
- ✓Experience designing and scaling workflows using orchestration platforms.
- ✓Ability to translate ambiguous legal requirements into reliable technical systems.
- ✓Hands-on experience building with OpenAI APIs, including tool-calling and multi-step workflows.
- ✓Experience designing agentic systems with human-in-the-loop review.
- ✓Strong technical documentation and architectural communication skills.
