About the Role
The Legal team at OpenAI plays a crucial role in furthering the company's mission by tackling innovative legal issues in AI. As a member of the Security Legal team, you will manage and evolve OpenAI’s sanctions compliance program, from screening architecture to monitoring and continuous improvement. This role offers real ownership in building systems that scale globally as OpenAI evolves.
Key Responsibilities
- →Manage sanctions compliance processes at a global scale for a frontier AI company
- →Partner with cross-functional teams to implement sanctions screening and controls
- →Own compliance documentation and reporting, including policies and metrics
- →Integrate systems and tools to ensure seamless compliance checks
- →Lead reviews and risk assessments to maintain compliance effectiveness
- →Manage vendors and third parties supporting compliance operations
- →Develop trade compliance training materials for partners and business teams
- →Explore and deploy AI tools to enhance trade compliance efforts
Requirements
- ✓10+ years of experience in trade compliance
- ✓Sophisticated understanding of US and international sanctions laws
- ✓Experience embedding compliance programs into complex business workflows
- ✓Strong program management skills
- ✓Excellent communication skills to build trust with cross-functional teams
- ✓Strong sense of ownership and sound judgment in ambiguous situations
