About the Role
OpenGov is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to contribute to the development, deployment, and integration of security tooling across their infrastructure. This role is key to advancing their Information Security program and ensuring cloud and on-prem environments are resilient and defensible.
Key Responsibilities
- →Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of internal security tools and automation pipelines
- →Implement solutions that secure cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and Kubernetes clusters
- →Partner with infrastructure and DevOps teams to build scalable solutions for logging, monitoring, and misconfiguration detection
- →Own the deployment and lifecycle of critical security tools including vulnerability management platforms and SIEM
- →Develop and maintain custom detection rules and remediations for cloud-native services
- →Create documentation, runbooks, and automated health checks for deployed tools
- →Evaluate open-source and commercial tools for integration into the security ecosystem
- →Provide mentorship to junior engineers and serve as a technical SME for infrastructure security
- →Contribute to Incident Response activities
Requirements
- ✓3+ years of hands-on cybersecurity engineering experience, with a focus on infrastructure or cloud security
- ✓Proven experience building, deploying, and maintaining security tools and automation
- ✓Deep understanding of cloud environments (AWS & Azure) and experience securing cloud-native services
- ✓Strong grasp of Threat Modeling fundamentals and systems hardening practices
- ✓Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines
- ✓Familiarity with tools such as Wiz, SentinelOne, or Palo Alto is a plus
- ✓Ability to break down complex security challenges into scalable technical solutions
