Why This Role is Exciting
We are seeking a skilled and collaborative professional to fill a hybrid role that blends the responsibilities of a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer and an Analytics Engineer. This role is pivotal in the successful migration of key customer reports and analytics from our legacy BI platform to our modern, next-generation data and analytics ecosystem.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of business intelligence tools and proficient foundation in analytics engineering. You will play a central role in ensuring data accuracy, enhancing reporting capabilities, and enabling data-driven decision-making across our customer base. By partnering with data engineers, analysts, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams, you'll translate business requirements and legacy reporting into scalable, technically sound solutions while clearly communicating complex insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full migration of reports and analytics from legacy systems (Power BI on Postgres/Azure) to modern tools (Sigma on Snowflake), including analysis, data mapping, testing, and validation.
- Work with business stakeholders, analysts, and data engineers to understand existing reports and gather requirements for building scalable BI solutions.
- Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations that help customers make data-driven decisions.
- Use analytics engineering best practices to build and improve data models for performance, consistency, and reuse.
- Ensure data is accurate, complete, and reliable.
- Identify and fix issues with data quality, BI tools, and performance.
- Provide user support and training for BI tools, and create reusable solutions and documentation to solve common reporting challenges.
- Use Coalesce and Git to manage deployments, track changes, and support team collaboration.
- Explain complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Attributes for a Successful Candidate
- 2+ years of experience demonstrating a proven background as a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer or Analytics Engineer, with expertise in building data models, reports, and dashboards at an enterprise scale.
- Proficient in SQL and experienced with modern BI toolsβPower BI and Sigma preferredβincluding developing custom calculations, complex visualizations, and migrating assets between platforms.
- Demonstrated success in migrating reports and analytics assets between BI platforms.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, data pipelines, and cloud data platforms like Snowflake, including BI tool integration.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving skills, with a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate data insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience creating documentation, training materials, and providing support to end-users for BI tools and reporting solutions.
- Experience with Git for managing deployments, version control, and collaborative development workflows.
