About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Engineer to join Oura's Health Intelligence organization. This role focuses on building AI-powered systems that bridge complex health data with real-world user utility. You will be part of a fast-moving team that uses AI as a fundamental building block for both product development and code writing.
Key Responsibilities
- βRapid Prototyping: Move from concept to production in days, not months, building new interaction layers for health intelligence.
- βAI Orchestration: Design and implement backend logic for LLM-based agents, focusing on reliability and tool-calling.
- βFull-Stack Ownership: Comfortably work across backend systems, modern web frontends, and native iOS/Android development.
- βAI-Native Development: Lead the way in AI-augmented engineering using tools like Claude Code and Cursor.
- βSystems Integration: Build secure, scalable integrations between internal intelligence engines and third-party services.
- βApplied MLOps: Implement model monitoring, evaluation frameworks, and scalable data pipelines for RAG systems.
Requirements
- β5+ years of experience building and maintaining production systems
- βProduct-minded approach with a builder mindset and bias toward action
- βExperience with OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain/LlamaIndex, and prompt engineering
- βExpertise in at least one backend language (Python or Node.js) and modern frontend frameworks
- βStrong understanding of privacy by design when handling sensitive personal data
- βAbility to thrive in ambiguity and define requirements through experimentation
