Pattern is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Market Intelligence team, driving Ecommerce intelligence across our portfolio of brands. In this role, you will develop scalable data science solutions that power our Ecommerce Management organization, with a particular focus on predictive modeling, go-to-market strategy, and retail marketplace insights. You will unlock insights from complex, high-volume datasets to inform smarter decision-making and accelerate performance across Amazon, Walmart, Target, TikTok Shop, and other digital marketplaces.
Partnering cross-functionally with Ecommerce, marketing, and retail teams, you will solve high-impact business challenges by leveraging AI and automation to build data science–driven solutions that optimize growth and support brand objectives. You will translate advanced analytics into clear, actionable strategies—effectively communicating research and results to internal and external stakeholders, influencing decision-making, and ensuring insights are implemented to drive measurable ROI.
This is a full-time role and will work a hybrid schedule based in Lehi, UT.
What is a day in the life of a Data Scientist?
• Develop predictive models to enhance marketplace performance, including pricing, demand forecasting, promotions, and competitor dynamics.
• Apply causal inference methods, such as geo-experiments, DiD, and uplift modeling, to measure the impact of marketing and operational levers.
• Partner with Product, Ecommerce, and Customer Success teams to translate technical models into actionable insights for Go-to-Market (GTM) motions.
• Contribute to product roadmaps and collateral to help scale solutions across a portfolio of global brands.
• Deliver analytics solutions specifically tailored to major marketplaces like Amazon, Walmart, Target, and TikTok.
• Analyze retail and media signals—including inventory, search, and catalog changes—to drive measurable business outcomes.
• Translate complex business problems into structured analytical approaches through close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Provide data storytelling and recommendations that bridge the gap between technical details and executive-level decision-making.
• Evolve experimentation frameworks and standardized KPI measurements across the organization.
• Build production-ready data pipelines and automated workflows within cloud data warehouses like Snowflake.
• Develop scalable modeling environments using Python and SQL, and enable users through dashboards in Tableau or Streamlit.
What will I need to thrive in this role?
• 4+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or similar
• Bachelor’s Degree in in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, including common modeling and statistical libraries
• Experience with experimentation design, causal inference techniques, and measuring marketing or retail impact
• Comfort working with large datasets and distributed computing frameworks (Spark, Databricks, etc.

What does success look like in the first 30, 60, 90 days?
• 30 Days: Master Pattern’s technical stack (Snowflake, Outerbounds, Python etc.) and establish foundational relationships with key stakeholders to understand core data schemas.
• 60 Days: Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize high-leverage initiatives while actively optimizing existing production code, fixing pipeline inefficiencies, and refining model performance.
• 90 Days: Assume full end-to-end ownership of a machine learning project and serve as the primary strategic data science partner for stakeholders.
What is the team like?
• You will work with two other Data Scientists (one in Utah, one in India) and be supervised by the Data Science Lead. You will be part of a larger HQ data organization and will be mentored by the VP of Data (or designated Executive), meeting with them on a regular basis to discuss your performance.
