THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Senior Software Engineer on our web application team, your expertise will be critical in building and evolving the user-facing platform that thousands of healthcare providers depend on daily to deliver proactive, effective care. If you are passionate about creating intuitive, high-performance user experiences and want to own the full stack with an emphasis on front end work that directly impacts clinical workflows, this role could be a great fit.
WHO WE ARE
Pearl Health is dedicated to empowering primary care providers, health systems, and physician-led networks to succeed in the shift to value-based care. Our platform delivers the technology, financial tools, and expert services that enable practices to provide more proactive, effective care to their Medicare patients, ultimately lowering costs and improving health outcomes.
Founded in 2020, we are a team of healthcare and technology innovators backed by premier investors like Andreessen Horowitz, Viking Global Investors, and AlleyCorp. We partner with thousands of providers across 44 states to build a more sustainable future for American healthcare.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will design, build, and own the web application that our providers interact with every day. You will tackle complex technical challenges across the full stack (with a strong emphasis on front end) to ensure our systems are performant, intuitive, and capable of supporting critical clinical workflows.
- Build high-performance React applications that transform complex healthcare data into clear, actionable user experiences for clinicians.
- Architect and maintain robust Node.js backend services and APIs that power our frontend, balancing data transformation needs with API design best practices.
- Ensure data compliance and security at the application layer, including careful handling of protected health information (PHI) and adherence to HIPAA requirements.
- Collaborate closely with our design team and product leadership to translate user needs into elegant, functional features.
- Own technical projects from discovery to delivery with autonomy, ensuring solutions align with both user experience goals and business objectives.
- Drive improvements in application performance, observability, and reliability across our distributed infrastructure.
- Mentor and upskill fellow engineers, fostering a strong culture of technical best practices and collaborative growth.
WHAT YOUβLL BRING
You are an experienced engineer who excels at building resilient, scalable systems and enjoys elevating the skills of the entire team. Your background has equipped you to navigate complex technical domains and translate abstract challenges into concrete, high-quality software solutions.
Must-haves:
- 8+ years of professional experience in full-stack software engineering with a primary focus on frontend development and a strong command of modern web application architecture.
- Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript, with a proven track record of shipping production applications using these technologies.
- Experience working in Node.js for backend services, with the ability to design and build APIs that support frontend needs and understand data flow across the stack.
- Hands-on experience working with relational databases and AWS.
- A deep understanding of modern frontend architecture principles, user experience considerations, and the full lifecycle of web application development.
- A demonstrated history of building applications that prioritize user experience, accessibility, and data securityβparticularly in handling sensitive information.
- A history of mentorship and successfully driving technical best practices within a team.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience working in healthcare technology or another highly regulated industry, particularly with exposure to HIPAA or similar compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with data pipelines, including working with Python and Terraform.
- Familiarity with healthcare workflows, clinical terminology, or the realities of healthcare software adoption.
- Exposure to design systems and close collaboration with design teams.
This role might not be for you if:
- You are seeking a backend-focused or data engineering role rather than a full-stack role with a strong emphasis on frontend development.
- You are not comfortable with or passionate about frontend development, React, or user experience design.
- You prefer working exclusively on backend services and do not wish to engage deeply with the web application layer.
- You thrive most in a highly structured corporate environment with top-down decision-making and minimal ambiguity.
