About the Role
We are looking for a Principal Product Designer to join our product team at PolicyMe, a Toronto-based startup modernizing the insurance industry. This role involves taking a proactive approach to uncovering opportunities, framing problems, and validating direction with research and data, then leading the design of simple, elegant solutions that balance user empathy with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- →Own the end-to-end design process from exploratory research to high-fidelity designs
- →Drive deep customer and product understanding through research and analysis
- →Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define problems and craft solutions
- →Support large product initiatives including major launches and optimizations
- →Use and contribute to our existing design system
- →Participate in team rituals and cross-functional standups
- →Communicate design decisions clearly to stakeholders
- →Balance speed and quality by iterating quickly and refining based on input
- →Bring a perspective of continuous improvement to processes and collaboration
Requirements
- ✓5+ years of experience designing user-centric digital products
- ✓Strong foundation in visual design, interaction design, and information architecture
- ✓Experience with the full product design lifecycle from research to iteration
- ✓Ability to conduct user research and translate findings into design decisions
- ✓Comfort navigating ambiguity and complexity
- ✓Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- ✓Strong prototyping skills with experience in sketching, wireframing, and interactive flows
- ✓Familiarity with design systems and scalable components
- ✓Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- ✓Balance of humility, curiosity, and confidence in design decisions
