About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our team at Proto Labs, a leader in digital manufacturing. This role focuses on shaping seamless, intuitive, and scalable digital experiences that help innovators bring products to life.
Key Responsibilities
- βLead generative and evaluative research: user interviews, usability testing, contextual inquiry, concept testing to identify unmet customer needs
- βSynthesize research into clear insights and frame problems with the Technical Product Manager
- βBuild working knowledge of core personas and use it to ground design decisions in observed behavior
- βDesign coherent experiences across complex, multi-step workflows: quoting, configuration, ordering, order tracking
- βProduce journey maps, service blueprints, flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and final specs
- βApply accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) as a baseline expectation
- βActively contribute to and evolve the design system
- βDocument design decisions and component behavior clearly
- βFacilitate design reviews, critique sessions, and design sprints
- βRepresent design quality and user needs in cross-functional forums
- βMentor mid-level and junior designers
- βRaise design quality through proactive process improvements
Requirements
- βBachelorβs Degree in Interaction Design, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent practical experience
- β5+ years of relevant experience
- βInteraction design depth and understanding of how people navigate complex systems
- βResearch methods, planning and running of moderated tests, interviews, and concept evaluations
- βSystems thinking; designing for patterns, not for pages
- βStrong written and verbal communication
- βContinuous learning mindset
- βAbility to balance competing priorities and allocate resources effectively
- βComfort working iteratively in continuous delivery environments
- βFluent knowledge of Figma
- βPrototyping tools: Figma, Cursor, or equivalent
- βFamiliarity with design handoff and developer collaboration workflows
