We’re in an unbelievably exciting area of tech and are fundamentally reshaping the data storage industry. Here, you lead with innovative thinking, grow along with us, and join the smartest team in the industry.
This type of work—work that changes the world—is what the tech industry was founded on. So, if you're ready to seize the endless opportunities and leave your mark, come join us.
THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly motivated Release Engineer who thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative engineering environment and enjoys bringing structure, clarity, and execution to complex software releases. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, quality, tooling, and program execution. It is a great fit for someone who likes solving ambiguous operational problems, improving how teams work, and helping large cross-functional efforts land smoothly and predictably.
As a Senior Release Engineer, you will help shape how releases happen rather than simply follow an existing process. You will have the opportunity to improve release tooling, strengthen visibility into release health, raise the quality bar for release readiness, and make it easier for teams to make good decisions with clear data. You will work closely with engineering, product management, QA, and release leadership to reduce risk, improve signal, and keep execution aligned as releases move from planning through validation and delivery.
You will get a chance to be part of a team that tackles challenges within massive-scale cloud storage environments. These new storage systems will allow our largest customers to meet the demands of AI and hyperscale workloads.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Build and improve the tooling, dashboards, and workflows that keep software releases on track.
• Create visibility into release health by tracking release items, test coverage, pass rates, issue reports, and commit status.
• Help teams identify release risk early and drive execution with clear, actionable data.
• Partner closely with the Engineering Release Manager to track milestones, support release readiness, and drive progress against key release goals.
• Assist with commit approvals and help maintain release quality and consistency across the release process.
• Support critical release operations such as tagging and signing releases to help ensure delivery is accurate, timely, and well coordinated.
• Coordinate with engineering, QA, and other stakeholders on validation gates, blockers, dependencies, and go/no-go readiness for releases.
• Help improve release automation and operational processes so releases become more repeatable, scalable, and resilient over time.
• Maintain release artifacts, checklists, and documentation that support internal alignment and high-quality execution.
• Analyze failures, surface trends, and help drive follow-through on the issues that matter most to release quality and customer readiness.
• Analyze and solve challenging problems through persistence and insight.
• Work as a team with smart peers who inspire you and who are inspired by you.
• Make customers really happy, because that’s why we do what we do.
• We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
WHAT YOU BRING
• 5+ years experience using Python, Golang, or related programming languages
• Experience supporting software release processes, including release readiness, milestone tracking, risk identification, and cross-functional coordination.
• Experience building or working with release tooling and operational workflows such as CI/CD pipelines, release dashboards, artifact/version management, tagging, signing, or similar automation.
• Effective working across cross-functional teams such as engineering, architects, product management, and documentation.
• Relevant engineering experience within the field of data storage or related technologies is desirable.
• Experience with hyperscale compute and storage architectures is desirable.
• Proven design sensibility and the willingness to work in a collaborative, team oriented environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a creative approach to addressing technical requirements.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field or equivalent industry experience.
