Quest Defense Systems and Solutions is hiring a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to help design and evolve a core FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) software platform used across multiple engine programs. In this role, youβll build reusable, safety-critical embedded software infrastructure that supports real-time engine control systems. Youβll focus on architecture, scalability, and long-term platform stability, not just single-program development. This is a platform engineering role where your work impacts multiple engine programs and certification baselines.
Preferred Onsite/Hybrid: Endicott, NY
Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required
What Youβll Do
β’ Architect and maintain FADEC software platform components (HAL, middleware, RTOS integration)
β’ Develop embedded C software for real-time engine control systems
β’ Define and manage software requirements, decomposition, and traceability (DO-178C)
β’ Lead software architecture and design reviews across engineering teams
β’ Support multi-core processors, deterministic scheduling, and fault-tolerant systems
β’ Drive integration and testing strategies (SIL, HIL, and hardware testing)
β’ Build and improve automated testing and static analysis frameworks (VectorCAST, Parasoft, etc.)
β’ Support CI/CD pipelines in a regulated aerospace environment
β’ Collaborate with systems, controls, hardware, and safety teams
β’ Promote reusable software platforms across multiple programs
What You Bring
β’ 8+ years of experience in embedded software development
β’ Strong experience with FADEC or engine control systems
β’ Proficiency in C for real-time embedded systems
β’ Experience with DO-178C or similar safety-critical standards
β’ Background in software architecture or platform-level design
β’ Experience with RTOS or real-time embedded systems
β’ Familiarity with Agile and DevOps in regulated environments
β’ Experience using tools like Git, Bitbucket, Jira
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Engineering or related field
β’ U.S. Citizenship required
Nice to Have
β’ Experience with multicore embedded architectures
β’ Knowledge of SIL / HIL testing environments
β’ Familiarity with MOSA (Modular Open Systems Architecture)
β’ Experience generating certification documentation and audit support
β’ Experience with automated verification, coverage tools, or static analysis
β’ Exposure to engine control, avionics, or aerospace propulsion systems
