ABOUT RAD AI
At Rad AI, we’re on a mission to transform healthcare with artificial intelligence. Founded by a radiologist, our AI-driven solutions are revolutionizing radiology—saving time, reducing burnout, and improving patient care. With one of the largest proprietary radiology report datasets in the world, our AI has helped uncover hundreds of new cancer diagnoses and reduced error rates in tens of millions of radiology reports by nearly 50%.
Rad AI has secured over $140M in funding, including a recently oversubscribed Series C ($68M round) led by Transformation Capital, bringing our valuation to $528M. Our investors include Khosla Ventures, World Innovation Lab, Gradient Ventures, Cone Health Ventures, and others—all backing our mission to empower physicians with cutting-edge AI.
Our latest advancements in generative AI are used by thousands of radiologists daily, supporting more than one-third of radiology groups and healthcare systems and nearly 50% of all medical imaging in the U.S. at partners including Cone Health, Jefferson Einstein Health, Geisinger, Guthrie Healthcare System, and Henry Ford Health.
Recognized as one of the most promising healthcare AI companies by CB Insights and AuntMinnie [Upgrade to PRO to see link] and ranked by Deloitte [Upgrade to PRO to see link] as the 19th fastest-growing company in North America, we are building AI-powered solutions that make a real impact. Most recently, Rad AI was named to CNBC’s Disruptor 50 [Upgrade to PRO to see link] list, highlighting the innovation and momentum behind our mission.
If you’re ready to shape the future of healthcare, we’d love to have you on our team!
Why We Need You
The products we build are used every day by radiologists making critical decisions with diagnoses that determine what care patients receive next. That’s not a context where “good enough” ships.
We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager who can hold that standard while also scaling a team that keeps pace with Rad AI’s growth. Someone who has lived through the full lifecycle of production software from the architectural decision that aged well to the one that didn’t and who brings that hard-won judgment to every conversation with their engineers.
This isn’t a coordination role. You’ll shape technical direction, develop the engineers around you, and drive outcomes on one of our core products. The team you build here will define how clinicians experience AI for years to come.
Here’s What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll lead one of our core product engineering teams where you’ll:
- Own end-to-end execution on your team’s roadmap from planning, prioritization, delivery, rollout, and iteration across one or more core products.
- Raise the technical bar by guiding architecture and design decisions, ensuring your team builds observable, maintainable systems that meet healthcare-grade reliability standards.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Implementations, Design, Clinical, Customer Success, and GTM counterparts to translate customer problems into clear, actionable engineering work.
- Drive continuous improvement across planning, estimation, code review, incident response, on-call, and documentation while evolving team processes and pushing the limits of AI to unlock new levels of efficiency and quality.
- Use data and metrics to drive decisions, defining and tracking the right leading indicators for reliability, performance, and delivery health.
- Hire exceptional engineers, develop the talent already on your team, and foster a culture of psychological safety, ownership, and continuous learning.
Who We’re Looking For
- 6–8+ years of experience managing software engineers with a proven track record leading teams that ship and operate production software at scale.
- A strong engineering foundation where you started as a hands-on engineer and are still comfortable going deep in technical discussions even if you’re no longer the primary coder.
- Experience leading teams building production web or cloud applications in modern stacks (e.g., Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, distributed systems on a major cloud provider).
- Excellent execution and stakeholder management: you set clear priorities, navigate tradeoffs, and keep teams aligned when requirements evolve.
- Strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences with a track record of influencing across functions without formal authority.
- A pragmatic, outcomes-oriented mindset where you’ve balanced ideal architecture with real-world constraints and have bias toward incremental, value-driven delivery.
- Genuine enjoyment of building and scaling healthy engineering teams: hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
It Would Be Nice If
- You’ve worked in healthtech, healthcare data, or a regulated environment (HIPAA, PHI, SOC 2) and understand what that demands from a software team.
- You’re familiar with radiology workflows or adjacent clinical systems (PACS, RIS, EHR, HL7/FHIR, DICOM).
- You’ve led teams that work closely with ML/AI systems in production and understand what’s different about those operational challenges.
- You’ve managed multiple teams or a small org, including partnering with Staff or Principal engineers to set technical direction.
Join our world-class team as we build and deploy AI solutions that empower physicians and transform patient care—making a meaningful impact on millions of lives. Driven by our mission, we prioritize transparency, inclusion, and close collaboration, bringing together exceptional people to revolutionize healthcare. If you're passionate about driving innovation and delivering impactful healthcare solutions, we'd love to hear from you!
