The Events Contracts Engineering team builds and maintains the systems that power reliable event-driven communication across Robinhoodβs platform. This team focuses on defining, validating, and evolving event contracts that enable services to interact predictably and at scale, ensuring consistency and reliability across critical financial systems!
As an Android Engineer, you will design and develop mobile platform capabilities that integrate with event-driven systems, enabling seamless user experiences powered by real-time data. You will collaborate closely with backend engineers, product managers, and designers to implement features, improve performance, and ensure correctness in how event data is surfaced within Android applications!
This role is based in our New York, NY office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What youβll do:
β’ Build and maintain Android features that consume and reflect event-driven data from backend systems
β’ Collaborate with backend engineers to define and integrate event contracts into mobile applications
β’ Improve app performance, reliability, and data consistency across user-facing features
β’ Write and maintain tests to ensure correctness of event handling and application behavior
β’ Contribute to code reviews and technical discussions to improve engineering quality
What you bring:
β’ You bring 0-3 years experience building Android applications using Kotlin or Java
β’ You have experience building UI using Android Views and/or Jetpack Compose
β’ You have experience integrating APIs and handling real-time or near real-time data
β’ You write clear, maintainable, and well-tested code
β’ You are comfortable debugging performance issues and improving application reliability
β’ You communicate effectively with engineers, product managers, and designers

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.
Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
