About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Systems Engineer to join our Compliance and Legal Systems team at Robinhood. This role involves leveraging technology to ensure compliance with laws and regulations while protecting the firm. You will play a key leadership role in our Compliance and Legal technology portfolio, focusing on scalable solutions and technical guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- →Act as the technical owner for core Compliance and Legal applications, serving as the primary contact for M&A-related integrations, migrations, and system readiness.
- →Design, implement, and operate scalable systems and workflows that support regulatory compliance, audit defensibility, and legal operations.
- →Apply strong engineering judgment with a focus on security, data protection, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
- →Lead the evaluation and implementation of best-in-class compliance and legal technology platforms.
- →Champion the strategic adoption of AI and automation to drive infrastructure efficiency and operational excellence.
- →Design and build scalable automation tools and AI-enabled solutions, while setting technical direction, best practices, and standards across the organization.
- →Architect and implement integrations using REST APIs to support seamless cross-system functionality.
- →Collaborate closely with Compliance, Legal, Security, and external vendors, and influence senior stakeholders across geographies.
- →Mentor fellow engineers and raise the bar for code quality, documentation, and operational excellence.
- →Navigate ambiguity and drive clarity in roadmap priorities for Compliance and Legal systems.
Requirements
- ✓Extensive experience working in Compliance and Legal environments with a deep understanding of regulatory systems.
- ✓Proven Staff-level experience owning complex systems and driving organization-wide initiatives.
- ✓Experience with programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, etc)
- ✓Familiarity with Cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, GCP, etc)
- ✓Management of SaaS and On-prem applications
- ✓Proficient in REST APIs and scripting for automations, migrations, and systems integration.
- ✓Familiarity with compliance platforms like Global Relay or similar technologies.
- ✓Experience with M&A system integrations and enterprise-scale migrations, especially in financial services.
- ✓Strong prioritization and stakeholder management skills; able to balance immediate demands with long-term vision.
- ✓Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration abilities.
- ✓A detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to documentation, change management, and operational rigor.
