ABOUT RUNDOO βΉοΈ
Our mission is to empower independent supply stores with best-in-class technology. Think of your local hardware store or mom-and-pop nurseryβthese are our clients. From paint to lumber to flooring, over 200,000 such stores across the country sell over $1T of building materials annually using outdated, on-premises systems. Weβre aiming to help them modernize so that they can continue to thrive.
Backed by leading investors including Bessemer and CRV, we've raised $18M across three rounds and are growing quickly. Our team is made up of builders, sellers, and industry veterans with a shared goal: to bring modern technology to an overlooked industry.
ABOUT THE ROLE πΌ
As our first dedicated Design Systems Designer, you will own the foundation that every product experience is built on. Sitting at the intersection of design craft and technical implementation, youβll audit and evolve what exists today into a cohesive, scalable system that designers and engineers actually love using. The ideal person for this role is both a systems thinker and a hands-on builder: someone who gets energized by bringing order to complexity, cares deeply about consistency and craft, and knows how to bring engineers along for the ride.
WHAT YOUβLL DO AS A DESIGN SYSTEMS DESIGNER AT RUNDOO ποΈ
- Own & evolve Rundooβs design system: audit what exists today to define patterns, components, and guidelines that clean up what we have and will scale with us.
- Re-build & maintain our Figma web & mobile component libraries: simplify and augment our component libraries.
- Evangelize the system and advocate for consistency: partner with engineers to translate components into production-ready, easy-to-use code and champion adoption.
- Align the design system roadmap with product priorities: collaborate with product, design, & engineering to ensure design system work enables our product roadmap.
- Design features that fall outside the system: when engineers struggle to use the system, jump in as a product designer to inform system extension or to guide them in how to best use what already exists.
REQUIREMENTS βοΈ
- Based in the SF Bay Area with flexibility to work in our Redwood City office ~4 days per week.
- 3-5+ years of product design experience, with meaningful time spent working on or contributing to a design system.
- Figma proficiency, including auto layout, component variants, design tokens, etc.
- Solid understanding of how design systems bridge to frontend implementation via CSS and component-based frameworks like React.
- Well-versed in web and mobile best practices and how they differ across platforms.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment where process & priorities shift frequently.
BONUS POINTS π
- Technical skills, including knowledge of how to write frontend code and comfort building simple components that implement your designs.
- Early-stage startup experience ideally building a design system from scratch.
- B2B SaaS experience with dense, data-heavy UI patterns.
COMPENSATION π΅
- Base Salary: $156k-$176k
- Equity: 0.0328%-0.0364%
