We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Identity team β the backbone of Samba is cross-device identity resolution and data onboarding capabilities. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Engineering, you will manage a team of talented engineers building and operating the systems that power identity resolution, data ingestion, and distribution across Samba's platform and partner ecosystem.
This is a high-impact role focused on execution and delivery at the intersection of privacy, data infrastructure, and advertising technology. You will be responsible for driving the execution and delivery of identity products that serve advertisers, agencies, and data partners globally, working closely with Tech Leads and senior engineers on technical direction.

β’ Own the end-to-end technical roadmap for Samba TV's identity resolution and data ingestion/distribution systems
β’ Participate in architectural discussions and ensure architectural decisions are well executed and aligned with engineering standards, scalability requirements, and data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA).
β’ Partner closely with Product Management to translate business requirements into technical designs and delivery plans
β’ Actively drive the software development lifecycle from design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and maintenance, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
β’ Champion engineering best practices, including code reviews, documentation, testing, observability, CI/CD, and effective use of AI-assisted development tools.
β’ Collaborate with Data Science and Platform Engineering teams to ensure identity systems are integrated, scalable, and well-governed
β’ Work with the Senior Director, Product Management β Data Products & Identity Portfolio to shape the long-term product vision and execution
β’ Engage with Business Development and Commercial teams to support partner integrations.
β’ Serve as a key technical voice with senior leadership, communicating roadmap progress, risks, and opportunities clearly
β’ Manage team resources, project timelines, and deliverables to ensure predictable, high-quality outcomes
β’ Drive the adoption of operational best practices: incident management, SLAs, on-call rotations, and post-mortems
β’ Monitor and continuously improve system performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
β’ 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2-4 years in engineering management or a team lead role
β’ Proven track record of building, growing, and developing high-performing engineering teams
β’ Strong foundations in software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and writing production-quality code
β’ Experience working with large datasets and data-centric systems, including designing, querying, and evolving data models over time.
β’ Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and modern data infrastructure (Spark, Databricks, Kafka, Snowflake)
β’ Deep technical background in cloud-native, data-heavy systems, including data pipelines and API-first architectures.
β’ Strong understanding of data privacy principles and regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and their practical engineering implications
β’ Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Product, Data Science, and commercial stakeholders in a matrixed organization
β’ Excellent communication skills β able to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
β’ Comfortable operating with ambiguity and making data-driven decisions in a fast-paced environmentPreferred Experience
β’ Prior hands-on experience in machine learning engineering or working closely with ML-driven systems.
β’ Background in managing systems that handle PII at scale with strong data governance practices
β’ Experience in ad tech, identity resolution, data licensing, or a closely related domain
