About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Identity team at Samba TV in Amsterdam. The Identity team builds and operates core systems for cross-device identity resolution, data onboarding, and distribution capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design, build, and operate large-scale data pipelines for identity-linked data
- →Architect ETL/ELT workflows using distributed computing frameworks on cloud infrastructure
- →Design and build API-first services that expose Identity capabilities
- →Define and implement observability, data quality validation, and monitoring frameworks
- →Drive performance optimization and cloud cost efficiency across systems
- →Own the technical evolution of Identity’s core systems including matching and segmentation
- →Architect secure data collaboration capabilities with privacy-preserving computation
- →Set technical direction for Identity systems serving downstream use cases
- →Lead code and design reviews, championing high standards for code quality
- →Mentor engineers across the Identity team
- →Partner with Engineering Manager on roadmap shaping and technical planning
- →Own end-to-end reliability of Identity systems
- →Define and improve SLAs, SLOs, and operational metrics
- →Drive maturity in CI/CD, deployment practices, and testing coverage
Requirements
- ✓12+ years of professional software engineering experience
- ✓Deep expertise in data engineering, backend systems, or distributed data infrastructure
- ✓Strong command of Python and SQL; comfortable with JavaScript
- ✓Extensive hands-on experience with distributed processing frameworks
- ✓Solid experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP)
- ✓Experience with workflow orchestration tools
- ✓Familiarity with data warehousing and lakehouse architectures
- ✓Experience building platform-grade, API-first systems
- ✓Deep understanding of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA)
- ✓Familiarity with secure data collaboration concepts
