ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Product Marketing Manager, your work will be critical to enabling our audience of security and software engineers to understand the value of the Semgrep platform and its individual offerings. You’ll bring new products and features to market, partnering closely with sales, and our product management, demand gen, and community teams.
By exercising your skills in differentiation and competitive messaging, you’ll also help Semgrep’s solutions stand out in the dynamic application security market. This role is a natural fit for someone with a technical foundation—a computer science background, software engineering experience, or deep hands-on work with developer tools—who is energized by the market-facing side of building a product. It’s what lets you write for engineers as someone who understands them, not someone who was briefed on them. Fluency with AI and the rapidly evolving AI-assisted development landscape is a significant advantage.
You might have a CS degree and spent time as a software engineer before discovering you’re energized by product strategy and customer storytelling. Or you may have always been at the intersection of technical and business work, more interested in why customers buy than in shipping features. Either way, you can open a terminal, read a codebase, whip up a demo project, and then turn that hands-on understanding into messaging that resonates with both practitioners and executives. You move quickly, embrace ambiguity, and thrive in a market where the playbook is still being written.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Develop product launch strategies that maximize impact and reach of our product development
- Become the subject matter expert for your product, including through direct, hands-on use of Semgrep itself
- Build demo projects and proof-of-concept integrations that bring Semgrep’s capabilities to life for developer and security audiences
- Use AI tools fluently in your daily work to accelerate research, content creation, and competitive analysis
- Show security and developer teams how they’ll benefit from Semgrep products by creating and shipping material that succinctly conveys their value
- Enable and train our fast-growing sales team by developing collateral for internal and external consumption
- Partner closely with product management on product and feature launches, and messaging feedback
- Educate the security and developer communities about the value of enforcing security and code standards
- Drive pipeline growth by collaborating with demand generation, events, community, and RevOps to ensure success of our messaging and high impact campaigns
- Make a direct, tangible impact on the product’s and company’s growth
YOU ARE IDEAL FOR THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE
- Experience in or a strong orientation toward go-to-market work, whether through marketing, developer advocacy, technical product management, sales engineering, or adjacent roles; career changers from software engineering or other technical disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply
- A computer science degree, software engineering background, or equivalent hands-on technical experience: you can read code, work with APIs, and build simple projects to illustrate product value
- Fluency with AI tools and a working familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows, including hands-on experience building with or evaluating LLM-based products
- A love for creating product-centric marketing programs and content that communicate the value of technical products to bottoms-up and tops-down audiences
- Excellent communications skills that present technical concepts in an easy-to-understand manner through a variety of media
- Excellence in working cross-functionally with sales, pre-sales engineering, and product management teams
- Experience creating sales collateral based on sales and customer observations, user research, and competitive dynamics
- Deep understanding of how developers and security engineers work, including the tools, workflows, and pain points that shape their day-to-day experience
- A bias toward speed and experimentation: comfortable operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous market where the playbook is still being written, and able to move from idea to shipped content quickly

WHAT WE OFFER (FTE ONLY)
Our goal is to competitively and fairly compensate every Semgrep employee with a system that equally rewards those who are vocal and those who are less comfortable making demands during the final steps of the hiring process.
