About the Role
Skydio is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Full-stack to design and build core cloud systems that power autonomous drone operations at scale. This role involves developing Skydio Cloud, our SaaS platform, and occasionally working on software that runs directly on drones.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design and evolve Skydio Cloud’s core data models, APIs, and services for drones, docks, users, missions, and telemetry data
- →Build and maintain core fleet management capabilities, including real-time fleet health and over-the-air updates
- →Develop geospatial and mission-planning systems for advanced aerial missions
- →Design secure, scalable systems capable of handling petabytes of real-time data
- →Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Field teams to deliver impactful features
- →Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews and code reviews
- →Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure platform reliability
Requirements
- ✓8+ years of experience building full-stack software systems
- ✓Strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, GraphQL, Python, and cloud platforms like AWS
- ✓Demonstrated systems thinking for designing end-to-end solutions
- ✓Experience building secure, scalable, enterprise-grade cloud applications
- ✓Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Temporal, or similar technologies
- ✓Strong product instincts for turning ambiguous problems into customer-facing solutions
