About the Role We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join a fast-paced project focused on delivering a fully functional tender response platform end-to-end within a defined 6-week engagement. This is a highly hands-on engineering role where you will work closely with a small senior team to build and deliver a production-ready AI-enabled platform using modern AWS services and infrastructure tooling. The ideal candidate is someone who can operate independently, move quickly, and contribute across backend systems, AI workflows, infrastructure, and integrations while maintaining strong engineering quality and delivery focus. This role is heavily backend-focused and requires someone comfortable taking ownership of implementation and execution in a lean, delivery-oriented environment. Responsibilities • Design, build, and implement an end-to-end AI-powered tender response platform. • Develop and maintain backend services and AI workflows using AWS-native technologies. • Build and manage infrastructure using Terraform and cloud-native best practices. • Implement AI and retrieval workflows leveraging AWS Bedrock and vector database technologies such as PGvector. • Design and orchestrate scalable workflows using AWS Step Functions. • Collaborate closely with senior technical stakeholders to deliver project milestones within tight timelines. • Contribute to architecture decisions, backend integrations, and deployment workflows. • Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and production-ready. • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across infrastructure, backend services, and AI components. • Support testing, deployment, and optimisation activities throughout the project lifecycle. • Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with high ownership and minimal oversight. Requirements • 6+ years of software engineering or backend engineering experience. • Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services in production environments. • Experience working with AI/LLM-related cloud tooling and workflows. • Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices. • Experience building backend systems and distributed workflows. • Hands-on experience with AWS Step Functions. • Familiarity with vector database technologies such as PGvector or similar vector search solutions. • Experience integrating AI services such as AWS Bedrock or similar LLM platforms. • Strong backend engineering and API integration experience. • Ability to independently deliver technical solutions end-to-end. • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills. • Comfortable working in a highly delivery-focused environment with tight timelines. • Strong communication and collaboration skills. Nice to Have • Experience building AI-powered document or workflow automation platforms. • Experience working with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems. • Familiarity with serverless architecture patterns. • Experience with PostgreSQL and data modelling. • Exposure to frontend technologies and lightweight UI implementation. • Experience working in startup or small-team environments. • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment automation.
