<p><br><strong>About the Role</strong><br>We are hiring a Senior React Frontend Engineer to play a critical role in improving and accelerating a large-scale transactional web platform. The application is a React-based SPA integrated with GraphQL/REST APIs and a headless CMS.</p>
<p>This is a high-impact, delivery-focused role where the primary objective is to significantly reduce an existing frontend backlog within a 3β6 month timeframe. The backlog includes performance issues, technical debt, mobile inconsistencies, vulnerabilities, and delayed product work.</p>
<p>You will work within an existing, complex codebase, balancing speed and quality while shipping meaningful improvements. This role requires a proactive, product-minded engineer who can identify issues, prioritise effectively, and collaborate closely with product and design teams to enhance the overall customer experience.</p>

Responsibilities
β’ Take ownership of reducing and managing a large frontend backlog, delivering measurable improvements within defined timelines.
β’ Develop, maintain, and optimise a React-based single-page application in a production environment.
β’ Diagnose and improve frontend performance, including Lighthouse metrics and Core Web Vitals.
β’ Identify and address technical debt, improving code quality, stability, and maintainability.
β’ Build and enhance responsive, mobile-first user interfaces, ensuring consistency across devices and browsers.
β’ Integrate frontend components with GraphQL and REST APIs, ensuring efficient data handling and performance.
β’ Develop and maintain CMS-driven components using Contentful or similar platforms.
β’ Collaborate closely with product, design, and QA teams to refine requirements and deliver high-quality features.
β’ Work pragmatically within a legacy codebase, making incremental improvements while continuing to ship features.
β’ Participate in Agile workflows using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Figma.
β’ Proactively identify user experience issues and suggest improvements aligned with business goals.
Requirements
β’ Strong experience building and maintaining React-based SPAs in production environments.
β’ Proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
β’ Strong skills in HTML and CSS, with a focus on responsive and mobile-first development.
β’ Proven experience integrating frontend applications with GraphQL and/or REST APIs.
β’ Hands-on experience improving frontend performance, including Lighthouse and Core Web Vitals.
β’ Experience working in backlog-heavy environments, with the ability to prioritise and deliver quickly.
β’ Experience working with legacy systems or technical debt-heavy codebases.
β’ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver pragmatic solutions under time constraints.
β’ Experience working in Agile teams and collaborating with product and design stakeholders.
β’ Product mindset with the ability to think about customer journeys and user experience.
Nice to Have
β’ Experience with CMS-driven frontends (Contentful or similar).
β’ Experience with e-commerce or transactional platforms.
β’ Exposure to A/B testing or experimentation frameworks.
β’ Familiarity with analytics or GTM tooling.
β’ Awareness of accessibility and SEO best practices.
β’ Experience with cross-browser testing tools.
