This role sits at the core of Smartlyβs data platform, powering the reporting systems that some of the worldβs largest and most influential brands rely on to make real time decisions.
Youβll join the Bobby Tables team, which is responsible for ingesting, transforming, and serving tens of billions of data points across global advertising channels. This is the engine behind Smartlyβs reporting and cross-channel analytics, turning fragmented, high volume data into a unified, real time, and highly flexible analytical experience.
Youβll design and optimize systems that execute complex queries over massive datasets with low latency, while ensuring reliability and consistency across a constantly evolving ecosystem of advertising channels and 3rd-party integrations. The work involves pushing the limits of distributed data processing, and enabling customers to explore their performance analytics with speed and precision.
Your contributions will directly shape how global brands understand, measure, and act on their advertising performance in real time, at a massive scale.
What You Will Do
β’ Design and build systems that support high-scale reporting and analytics workloads
β’ Improve OLAP performance and optimize data access patterns across large datasets
β’ Develop solutions that unify data from multiple external ad channels with varying structures
β’ Own projects from definition through delivery, ensuring high quality and reliability
β’ Work with technologies such as Ruby, TypeScript, Kafka, and modern data storage systems (PostgreSQL/Citus, Clickhouse, Redis)
β’ Mentor engineers and support the team in maintaining a high engineering standard
What We Are Looking For
β’ Strong experience building and operating data-intensive and high-scale systems
β’ Experience working with OLAP workloads and query performance optimization
β’ Must have strong experience with relational databases (such as PostgreSQL, MS SQL, MySQL etc.), experience with ClickHouse or other columnar databases is a plus
β’ Ability to design systems that handle varying data structures and integrations
β’ Comfortable working across the stack when needed
β’ Ability to take ownership of complex problems and drive them to practical solutions
β’ Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with others
