About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our team at SoFi, a next-generation financial services company and national bank. This role involves leading the evolution of strategically critical areas of our financial services platform to help our members reach their financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
- →Lead design and implementation efforts across platform domains to affect multi-team or org-wide outcomes
- →Resolve problems in platform design and implementation with competing constraints, ambiguity, and high technical or business risk
- →Serve as a subject matter expert across platform systems, identifying and coordinating resolution of systemic issues
- →Define long-term architectural direction for critical platform areas, aligning multiple teams around a shared vision
- →Drive alignment across teams to resolve technical and organizational conflicts, building consensus around difficult tradeoffs
- →Raise engineering maturity by driving improvements in the organization's culture and processes supporting engineering excellence
- →Collaborate with partners to align technology and company strategy, addressing short and long-term business goals
- →Identify and drive improvements in systems supporting engineer productivity and velocity
- →Mentor engineers and participate in recruiting processes
Requirements
- ✓Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- ✓7+ years as a professional Software Engineer or similar experience
- ✓4+ years in a technical leadership role
- ✓Track record of defining and leading cross-team initiatives for key business goals
- ✓Track record of leading initiatives to increase engineering productivity and improve engineering excellence
- ✓Exemplary communication and documentation skills
- ✓Proficient coding in Java, Kotlin, or similar object-oriented programming language
- ✓Experience with public cloud compute, storage, and infrastructure
- ✓Experience with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and Spring Boot or similar frameworks
- ✓Deep understanding of relational and document database fundamentals
- ✓Deep understanding of microservices design principles and architecture
- ✓Deep understanding of scaling highly-available, mission-critical systems
- ✓Expert proficiency working with GIT and related CI/CD systems
- ✓Experience leading and improving Agile methodologies
