As PMO Lead, you play a pivotal role in shaping, governing, and continuously improving the project and portfolio management practice within Sofico. You lead the PMO function endβtoβend, ensuring excellence in project execution, portfolio oversight, and methodology maturity.
You will steer the and the PM competence center, drive strategic alignment across programs and projects, and act as the guardian of delivery quality, governance, and standards. In this role, you combine strategic thinking with operational pragmatism, guiding project managers, improving processes, and enabling informed management decisionβmaking.
This position builds on Project Manager responsibilities but adds clear PMO leadership, governance, and strategic ownership dimension. Your focus spans quality assurance, portfolio health monitoring, capability development, and organizational alignment.
PMO Leadership & Governance
β’ Lead and coach the PMO core team, ensuring clarity of roles, priorities, and expected outcomes.
β’ Define and maintain PMO governance frameworks, standards, methodologies, and best practices.
β’ Drive organisation-wide consistency in project delivery, ensuring compliance with Soficoβs Implementation Methodology.
β’ Serve as the main point of contact for PMO-related governance topics for leadership and key stakeholders.
Project & Portfolio Oversight
β’ Oversee project and program health checks and stage gates, ensuring timely quality assessments and clear follow-up actions.
β’ Provide clear, consolidated portfolio reporting to management, translating data into actionable insights.
β’ Monitor and optimise portfolio KPIs (budget, timeline, risks, resource utilisation, strategic alignment).
β’ Escalate structural issues and drive resolution, working closely with unit leads, program managers, and senior management.
Capability Building & Community Leadership
β’ Develop and execute a learning and coaching strategy for Program Managers and Project Managers across all units.
β’ Foster a strong PM community by stimulating knowledge sharing, lessons learned, and mutual support.
β’ Support project teams during initiation, advising on scoping, planning, and delivery approach tailored to project complexity.
Strategic & Continuous Improvement
β’ Drive continuous improvement across project management processes, templates, and work instructions.
β’ Lead or coordinate internal strategic projects and organizational change initiatives, including communication and change management.
β’ Translate business needs and observed project pain points into concrete improvement initiatives and PMO priorities.
Sales & PreβSales Support
β’ Support the Sales team in assessing tenders and validating project proposals.
β’ Ensure proposals reflect realistic delivery approaches, assumptions, timelines, and budgets aligned with PMO standards.

What we expect
β’ 7+ years of experience in a PMO, project management, or portfolio management role, ideally in software delivery or ERP/enterprise solutions (e.g. Salesforce, SAPβ¦).
β’ Proven experience leading or coaching project managers or PMO teams.
β’ Strong understanding of project financials: budgeting, forecasting, financial risk analysis.
β’ Deep familiarity with project methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, SAFe.
β’ Strong analytical mindset with the ability to maintain a helicopter view across complex portfolios.
β’ Experience in change management, process optimization, and organizational improvement.
β’ Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, enabling you to operate effectively at multiple levels in the organization.
β’ Fluent in English & Dutch, spoken and written.
