Network Operations Engineer I As a Network Operations Engineer at Sony Interactive Entertainment, you will help operate and evolve a global, high-capacity backbone network connecting data centers, studios, cloud platforms and core production infrastructure that power PlayStation experiences. This role is suited to early-career engineers with 1–2 years of hands-on experience who are looking to build deeper expertise in large-scale networking. As a junior engineer you will have the opportunity to learn from the best to grow your skill set, with plenty of opportunities to provide feedback on architecture, automation, operations, or any other areas that interest you. Core Responsibilities • Operate and support a global production network, including incident response, change execution, maintenance, and assisting with deployments and continuous network improvements. • Troubleshoot connectivity issues across backbone, data centre, and cloud environments • Monitor network performance using telemetry and analysis tools (e.g. sFlow, IPFIX) and assist in identifying and resolving issues • Contribute to operational procedures, documentation, and runbooks • Participate in regional shifts to ensure 24-hour network coverage within a follow the sun model • Participate in an on-call rotation during weekends (up to 12-hour per day) Required Skills & Experience • 1–2 years of relevant hands-on experience in network operations, engineering, or a related field • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, subnetting) • Practical exposure to routing protocols (e.g. OSPF, IS-IS, or BGP concepts) • Experience working with network devices (routers, switches) in a production environment • Ability to troubleshoot issues methodically and communicate findings clearly • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git) • Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment Desirable Skills • Exposure to technologies such as MPLS, BGP, IPv6, or VPN services • Experience with Linux systems or scripting (Python or similar) • Exposure to network monitoring, telemetry, or observability tools This role offers the opportunity to work on real production infrastructure while continuing to grow technical depth in a collaborative and highly experienced engineering team.
