We Are Sparta
Sparta is the next-generation commodity trading platform.
We give trading desks the clarity, control, and collaboration they need to move faster and trade smarter.
In February 2025, we secured $42 million in Series B funding. Now we’re scaling up across the business, and it’s an exciting time to join.
Our people are the driving force behind everything we do. At Sparta, you’ll be trusted to take ownership, backed by a team who wants you to succeed. You’ll be challenged, supported, and given room to grow. Because building something this ambitious takes everyone at their best.
At Sparta, your work has reach. From improving our platform, to powering smarter decisions for our customers, to changing how commodity trading is done around the world.
And because we’re growing fast, you won’t just build your career. You’ll accelerate it, with a level of ownership and impact you simply don’t get at bigger, more bureaucratic companies.
Pricing Analyst
We’re now looking for a commercially minded, market-savvy Pricing Analyst to join our fast-growing Commodities team, on a hybrid basis, with 2 – 3 days in the Singapore office per week.
In this role, you’ll be a key member of our team and be responsible for market pricing of Light Distillates and Crude in Asia. That means being the eyes and ears of the market—engaging with trading participants, collecting and publishing primary market intelligence, reporting on relevant news, and writing timely, value-added commentary. You’ll contribute directly to the delivery of real-time, accurate pricing within our platform and tools.
You’ll need to be a natural relationship-builder with a journalistic mindset and strong intellectual curiosity—someone who can connect with the market, uncover pricing insights others might miss, and continuously expand both your knowledge and your network.
What you’ll be doing:
• Take ownership of Light Distillates price reporting and global market analysis (ie. gasoline, naphtha, LPG markets)
• Build and maintain relationships with traders, brokers, and other market participants to gather high-quality, real-time pricing and market information.
• Analyse spot price developments, forward curves, and trade flows.
• Develop and maintain transparent, robust pricing methodologies and editorial standards aligned with Sparta’s data tools and models.
• Work closely with the research and analytics team to share insights, collaborate on reports, and support thought leadership.
• Produce daily and weekly reports summarising key developments in Light Distillates & Crude pricing, market activity, and sentiment.
• Represent Sparta at industry events and forums, building your network and increasing brand visibility.
• Advocate for Sparta’s role in shaping market transparency and intelligence.
About you:
• Proven experience in oil pricing, analysis, or editorial roles, ideally with a commodity intelligence provider, trading house, or consultancy.
• Strong understanding of oil market structures, trade flows, and regional benchmarks.
• Solid network of contacts in the oil trading community is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of energy market economics, arbitrage, and risk dynamics.
• Strong numeracy and analytical skills, with working knowledge of Excel (Python or SQL is a plus).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Self-starter mindset with high intellectual curiosity and attention to detail.• Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Culturally aware, with the ability to engage professionally across global markets.
