About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Subscriptions Mission team at Spotify. This role focuses on building and maintaining systems that drive user conversion, retention, and upsells through scalable backend solutions. You will work collaboratively with R&D teams, Marketing, and Growth to create meaningful features for millions of users worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- →Architect, develop, and operate Java services for the merchandising platform
- →Design scalable backend systems, data models, and APIs on Google Cloud Platform
- →Serve as a technical leader and mentor within an autonomous, cross-functional agile squad
- →Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and solve challenging problems
- →Scale automation and new platform capabilities through platformised approaches
Requirements
- ✓5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer working with Java
- ✓Strong computer science fundamentals and experience building complex backend services at scale
- ✓Experience designing, implementing, and scaling cloud-native software on GCP or AWS
- ✓Experience working directly with stakeholders to develop APIs and systems
- ✓Comfort working collaboratively on cross-functional teams and driving complex delivery initiatives
- ✓Experience writing distributed, high-volume services and deploying them in production
- ✓Growth mindset and passion for team goals and the Spotify mission
