About the Role
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join the Backstage team at Spotify. This role focuses on building and operating the cloud infrastructure behind our developer platform, which helps create and maintain software through AI-native workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- →Own fleet reliability by leading the reliability, security, and scalability strategy for Portal’s SaaS infrastructure
- →Architect for the agentic era by designing and evolving infrastructure on GCP and AWS using Terraform
- →Drive operational excellence by evolving incident management, on-call, and postmortem practices
- →Lead fullstack reliability by operating across a modern web stack including TypeScript, React, and Python
- →Mentor and multiply by raising the reliability IQ of the broader engineering team
Requirements
- ✓5+ years of hands-on experience operating cloud infrastructure (GCP and/or AWS)
- ✓Experience with Terraform and Kubernetes to run production systems at scale
- ✓Practical experience or strong interest in operating LLM-based systems, RAG pipelines, or agentic workloads
- ✓Understanding of distributed systems first principles and ability to translate that thinking into infrastructure decisions
- ✓Proficiency in at least one modern language (TypeScript, Java, Go, or Python)
- ✓Ability to build automation and improve systems to prevent operational issues
- ✓Strong communication skills to explain complex infrastructure trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
