The State of Connecticut, Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP), is seeking a Chemist 1 to join the Toxicology Unit within the Division of Scientific Services in Meriden, CT.

This role is ideal for chemists who want their analytical skills to directly support public safety, law enforcement, and the justice system.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Chemist 1, you’ll receive hands-on training and perform full-process toxicology examinations, including:

• Analyzing biological specimens (blood and urine) using LC/MS techniques • Examining, photographing, and documenting forensic evidence • Preparing detailed analytical reports and interpreting results • Verifying Draeger 9510 breath alcohol instruments • Testifying in court as an expert witness • Collaborating with forensic scientists and law enforcement partners

Position Details:

• Full-time, onsite (40 hours/week, Monday–Friday) • Grant-funded position through September 30, 2026 • Located in Meriden, Connecticut

Who Should Apply:
