About the Role
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join Statista, the world's leading business data platform. This role involves building and owning our company-wide event streaming platform, transforming our real-time event monitoring system into a scalable, self-service infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- βDesign and operate a company-wide event bus built on Kafka, evolving our existing real-time event monitoring system into a scalable, self-service platform
- βDefine and maintain all infrastructure as code using AWS CDK across ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch
- βBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines with zero-downtime deployments and robust rollback capabilities
- βCreate self-service tooling and documentation so engineering teams can independently onboard to the platform
- βInstrument the platform with Datadog, define SLOs, and build runbooks that make operations manageable at scale
- βEmbed security best practices from day one: IAM least-privilege, secrets management, and network segmentation
Requirements
- β3+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE
- βHands-on Kafka experience is a must β consumer groups, topic design, partitioning strategies, and operational troubleshooting
- βStrong AWS expertise across compute, networking, storage, security, and monitoring
- βProficient with Infrastructure as Code β AWS CDK preferred, Terraform or CloudFormation also considered
- βExperience building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar)
- βComfortable with Docker, Python scripting, and Linux administration
- βKubernetes/EKS, Datadog, and FinOps experience are a plus
