About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and passionate Data Scientist to join our AI Team at SumUp, contributing to the development of customer-facing models and the evaluation of our AI products. Your work will help elevate our customer support by improving quality, identifying gaps, and tailoring the experience to merchants’ needs.
Key Responsibilities
- →Build and improve LLM-based evaluation models to assess the quality, safety, and effectiveness of AI products
- →Design and implement automated QA and evaluation pipelines for continuous monitoring and benchmarking
- →Contribute to end-to-end model development from problem framing to deployment
- →Own forecasting models and work with WFM to improve accuracy
- →Develop and maintain data pipelines combining product signals, customer support interactions, and feedback loops
- →Support creation of qualitative and quantitative observability frameworks
- →Produce actionable insights from evaluation outputs to identify gaps and improvement opportunities
- →Build ML models that improve support efficiency
- →Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver measurable improvements
- →Learn and share best practices across the data and AI community
Requirements
- ✓3+ years of experience applying data science to real-world products
- ✓Solid understanding of machine learning and statistics
- ✓Experience working with LLMs or NLP systems
- ✓Strong ability to write clean code in Python and SQL
- ✓Experience building data workflows and pipelines
- ✓Confidence communicating results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- ✓Proactive mindset with willingness to take ownership
