About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join the Credit Risk Analytics (CRA) team at SumUp. This role focuses on improving credit risk models and ensuring long-term reliability as the lending portfolio scales into new markets.

Key Responsibilities

→Optimize credit risk models to improve stability, predictive power, and net revenue impact
→Drive end-to-end deployment of new model versions in collaboration with Credit Risk Engineering
→Enhance machine learning infrastructure to reduce maintenance overhead
→Integrate new internal and external data sources into existing models and processes
→Monitor models in production and investigate performance shifts or anomalies
→Promote technical excellence through documentation and code reviews

Requirements

✓5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist
✓Deep understanding of Data Science principles, including statistics and machine learning
✓Strong experience with Python (pandas, PySpark, scikit-learn) and SQL
✓Proven track record of building and deploying machine learning models at scale
✓Experience with credit risk assessment or financial decisioning models
✓Strong software engineering practices
✓Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills
