Backend Engineer (NodeJS) - Remote & Contract at supercharge

We value openness, modesty, hard work, and simple yet great solutions. We’re looking for a Backend Engineer (Contractor) to join a team working with a US-based dental/medtech client. This is not a typical feature-factory role; you’ll work on real customer issues and build tools and features that directly support dental practices across the US. This is a remote contractor role, requiring afternoon/evening availability (16:00–24:00 CET) to align with US business hours and provide real-time operational support. You’ll contribute to mission-critical software used daily by healthcare providers, combining backend development, DevOps troubleshooting, and hands-on problem solving with tangible impact and a high level of ownership. Your day to day will include: • Solving real production issues for dental practices – configuration problems, connectivity issues, and system failures that need immediate resolution • Developing new features and internal tooling to improve the platform and reduce future issues • Building and maintaining RESTful APIs and backend services using NodeJS • Troubleshooting Windows environment issues – dental practices run on Windows, and you'll need to understand this ecosystem deeply • Working with AWS infrastructure and resolving Tailscale networking issues • Participating in code reviews and maintaining high code quality standards • Collaborating directly with US-based stakeholders, including customer success and operations teams • Writing clean, maintainable code that integrates with CI/CD pipelines • Bringing an architectural perspective to planning and design discussions What makes you thrive here: • 3+ years of hands-on experience with NodeJS building backend applications, microservices, and RESTful APIs • Strong experience working in Windows-based environments, including services, permissions, deployments, and PowerShell scripting • DevOps mindset with hands-on experience using AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch) and Docker • Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and ORMs such as Prisma • Familiarity with modern backend frameworks and tooling (NestJS, Jest or similar) • Experience with networking and VPN solutions (Tailscale is a strong plus) and general infrastructure debugging • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to get to the root cause of complex issues • Excellent English communication skills, including working directly with US-based, non-technical stakeholders • Ability to work independently during US business hours, with a high level of ownership and accountability Why join Supercharge? • To unleash your full potential, we’re here to help you grow every step of the way with exciting international projects, access to inspiring conferences, in-house soft skill trainings, and online courses.
