We are seeking a skilled React Native Developer to build and evolve our Fire TV streaming application as Amazon transitions to Vega OS, their new operating system with React Native as the supported development platform. In this role, you will work with a cross-functional team to build and optimize performance-driven user interfaces for large-screen living room experiences, delivering reliable live and VOD video playback to millions of viewers.
This role sits within our Streaming Applications domain, which owns CTV product delivery across Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Samsung, and other connected TV platforms. Youβll partner closely with backend services, streaming infrastructure, QA, and product teams to deliver high-quality experiences that integrate with our microservices platform, including content feeds, personalization engines, and ad insertion services.
This is a hybrid position based in Knoxville, TN, with regular in-office collaboration across engineering, product, and streaming teams.
Responsibilities:
β’ Build and maintain React Native applications tailored for Amazon Fire TV and the upcoming Vega OS platform
β’ Optimize for performance on large screens, including remote navigation (DPAD), lean-back UI patterns, focus management, and smooth scrolling behavior
β’ Integrate with native modules and custom Android code for Fire TV-specific features and platform APIs
β’ Implement video playback functionality using HLS streams for live and VOD content
β’ Integrate SSAI/DAI ad tech via AWS MediaTailor, CDP SDKs such as RudderStack, and other CTV-related tools
β’ Integrate with RESTful APIs, content feeds, and other microservices
β’ Collaborate with backend, design, QA, and product teams to define and deliver intuitive CTV user experiences
β’ Address platform-specific quirks across Fire TV device models and optimize memory, performance, and stability
β’ Write clean, modular, and testable code with unit tests and integration tests, and participate in code reviews to maintain high code quality
β’ Work within CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and release using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps
β’ Follow the teamβs sprint operating model
β’ Use AI tools such as Claude Code and other AI-assisted development tools to accelerate code generation, test authoring, and documentation
β’ Contribute to release management processes including app store submissions, rollout strategies, and post-release monitoring
β’ Monitor production health using observability tools such as New Relic, and drive timely remediation of issues discovered after release
Requirements:
β’ 3-5 years of professional experience with React Native
β’ Proven experience building and shipping apps for Fire TV or Android-based CTV platforms
β’ Solid understanding of native module bridging in React Native with an Android focus
β’ Experience with video playback technologies, streaming architecture, and HLS
β’ Familiarity with ad tech integration patterns including server-side ad insertion
β’ Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and cloud-native backend services
β’ Experience working in Agile teams with short, iterative release cycles and collaborating with product, design, and QA
β’ Comfortable debugging device-specific issues across Fire TV hardware variants and Fire OS versions
β’ Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows
β’ Strong communication and team collaboration skills
Nice to Have
β’ Experience with Amazonβs Vega OS or early adoption of React Native for TV platforms
β’ Experience with other CTV platforms such as Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, Samsung, or LG
β’ Familiarity with analytics and event tracking tools such as RudderStack
β’ Experience with feature flags, experimentation tooling, and A/B testing (e.g., LaunchDarkly)
β’ Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as New Relic
β’ Experience with authentication flows (OAuth 2.0, Auth0) in CTV environments
