About The Role As a Cybersecurity Intern at Thndr, you’ll gain hands-on experience securing modern, cloud-native infrastructure and applications at scale. You’ll work on real-world security initiatives—from threat modeling and vulnerability management to penetration testing. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with senior security engineers, developers, and DevOps engineers, giving you exposure to the full spectrum of cybersecurity, including cloud and application security, governance, and risk management. Throughout your internship, you’ll also develop strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills while contributing to a fast-paced, security-first environment. What You’ll Do Threat Modeling: Participate in threat modeling sessions to identify and document potential risks across new features, systems, or architecture changes. Penetration Testing: Support internal security assessments and coordinate external penetration tests, assisting with test scoping, findings validation, and remediation tracking. Security Operations: Assist in monitoring security alerts, triaging incidents, and investigating potential threats using tools like AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, and endpoint protection platforms. Vulnerability Management: Support scanning and tracking of vulnerabilities in applications and cloud infrastructure, and help coordinate remediation efforts with engineering teams. Security Awareness & Training: Contribute to the development and rollout of internal security training and phishing simulations to promote a strong security culture. Tooling & Automation: Work with the security team to improve monitoring and reporting through scripting or automation in platforms like Python, Bash, or GitHub Actions. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, DevOps, and engineering teams to gather context, raise potential risks, and participate in secure-by-design discussions. What You’ll Need - You’re a senior student or a recent graduate, preferably with a degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field. - Strong interest in cybersecurity and eagerness to learn from a team with deep experience. - Basic understanding of security concepts such as encryption, authentication, and access control. - Familiarity with operating systems, networking, and cloud platforms (especially AWS). - Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python or Bash) and version control systems like Git. - Analytical mindset and attention to detail with good written and verbal communication skills. Nice to have - Participation in CTFs, open-source projects, or security communities. - Knowledge of secure coding practices or interest in application security. Who Are We?
