About the Role
This Electric Utility – Engineering/Technical Support role serves as a strategic partner to the Vice President, Electric Utilities, playing a critical role in integrating client data center developments into regional power systems. The position oversees the full electric load-interconnection process and acts as the primary liaison with utilities and market operators.
Key Responsibilities
- →Manage the end-to-end utility load-interconnection process for all assigned development projects
- →Serve as the primary interface with electric utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and transmission operators
- →Review and evaluate utility system-impact studies, load-flow models, and power-delivery feasibility assessments
- →Oversee third-party engineering and consultant studies to ensure technical accuracy
- →Support transmission planning needs by evaluating grid capacity and upgrade requirements
- →Assess new market viability from a utility and transmission-delivery perspective
- →Analyze utility constraints, risks, and opportunities to inform site-selection strategies
- →Communicate complex engineering concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- →Review, negotiate, and provide technical input on utility service agreements
- →Develop and maintain project-level utility budget forecasts
- →Identify and implement process improvements for utility coordination
- →Partner with development, engineering, and leadership teams to advance project objectives
- →Contribute to corporate initiatives related to energy strategy and regulatory engagement
Requirements
- ✓Technical expertise in electric utilities and power systems
- ✓Experience with utility interconnection processes and grid planning
- ✓Strong understanding of transmission, distribution, and power-delivery requirements
- ✓Ability to analyze complex utility system studies and feasibility assessments
- ✓Experience with utility service agreements and interconnection contracts
- ✓Knowledge of utility market operations and regulatory frameworks
- ✓Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- ✓Project management experience with budget forecasting capabilities
- ✓Cross-functional collaboration skills with development, engineering, and leadership teams
