About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Level Designer to join our team working on Beyond Good & Evil 2, an open-world action-adventure game set in a captivating space opera universe. This is also the direct prequel to the classic 2003 game. Using our proprietary Voyager engine, Beyond Good & Evil 2 aims to offer an organic and uninterrupted experience of exploration and space piracy at the scale of a solar system, featuring exotic locations, colorful characters, and numerous mysteries to discover alone or with friends. Key Responsibilities
- →Prototype engaging game situations supporting game activities in line with Level Design direction, World Logic, and the fantasy of Beyond Good & Evil 2
- →Design readable and navigable topologies/environments, respecting the 3C principles, by leveraging available Level Design ingredients
- →Document guidelines and best practices for Level Design (interior/exterior)
- →Document intentions and design of World Locations from briefs by the World Director and in co-construction with teams (Blueprint, Map, artistic references, narrative relationships)
- →Shape terrain to tell stories through the environment and spark player curiosity
- →Ensure quality and consistency of content throughout the process: integration, QA tracking, participation in playtests, and incorporating feedback from Creative Direction
- →Act as a player advocate: put yourself in their shoes and evaluate each decision from their perspective to challenge design and guide priorities
- →Collaborate and communicate continuously with various disciplines to align intention → prototype → playable content → final quality
Requirements
- ✓Experience in Level Design for open-world games
- ✓Strong understanding of game design principles and player experience
- ✓Ability to create engaging and coherent game environments
- ✓Experience with documentation and best practices in Level Design
- ✓Collaboration skills with various game development disciplines
- ✓Understanding of narrative integration in game design
- ✓Experience with playtesting and QA processes
- ✓Ability to shape terrain and environments to tell stories
- ✓Strong communication and teamwork skills
