About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Node.js / TypeScript) to join Verifoneβs payments and checkout platform team in London. You will design and operate scalable, production-critical systems that handle secure, high-volume transactions globally.
Key Responsibilities
- βDesign and implement backend services supporting payment, checkout, and transactional workflows
- βCollaborate with Product, Frontend, Platform, and Infrastructure teams to deliver secure, scalable APIs
- βOperate systems that perform reliably under real-world load and strict security requirements
- βBuild maintainable, testable backend systems following Clean Architecture and Domain-Driven Design
Requirements
- β5+ years of experience with TypeScript (version 3.x or higher) and Node.js (version 16 or higher)
- βStrong grounding in Clean Architecture and Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
- βExperience with backend frameworks such as Hapi.js, Express, Fastify, or NestJS
- βKnowledge of authentication and authorization using JWT and OAuth2
- βExperience with MongoDB modeling, indexing, and performance tuning
- βHands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch)
- βStrong discipline with CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows
- βAutomated testing experience using Jest or Mocha/Chai/Sinon
