About the Role
Verkada is seeking an Android Developer to join our Mobile Core team, which provides the underlying systems and components for building high-performance mobile experiences. In this role, you will be a key technical contributor to the Native Systems Layer, ensuring our mobile foundation is reliable, scalable, and easy for other teams to build upon.
Key Responsibilities
- →Maintain and evolve our Native Component Library built with Jetpack Compose
- →Optimize CI/CD pipelines and expand test automation strategies
- →Maintain a high-performance networking stack for offline-first synchronization
- →Implement low-level protocols (BLE, NFC, Wi-Fi) for hardware integration
- →Optimize the type-safe communication layer between web and native components
- →Evaluate new patterns like Server-Driven UI to balance native performance with engineering velocity
Requirements
- ✓6+ years of professional Android development with mastery of Kotlin and Android SDK
- ✓Strong experience with mobile CI/CD and a test-first approach
- ✓Deep understanding of networking stack (OkHttp, Retrofit, Protobuf)
- ✓Hands-on experience with Bluetooth (BLE), NFC, or Android background execution limits
- ✓Expert proficiency in Jetpack Compose and scaling shared UI libraries
- ✓Experience managing Google Play Store release cycles
