About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team at Versaterm, a global public safety solutions company. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications, working on both backend and frontend systems, and contributing to the overall growth and innovation of our public safety product offerings.

Key Responsibilities

→Design, implement, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions that align with business needs, with a focus on clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
→Practice and contribute to Spec-Driven Development, collaborating with product and design partners to define clear, testable specifications before implementation.
→Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, production issues, and technical problems.
→Contribute to the design and evolution of software applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
→Provide guidance and support to junior engineers, reviewing code and offering constructive feedback to foster team growth.
→Participate in the team’s development process, including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.

Requirements

✓Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience and training.
✓2-5 years of professional experience in software development, ideally in a modern web or cloud environment.
✓Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript), with the ability to work across a full-stack codebase.
✓Experience building modern web applications across the stack, including front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) and back-end services using frameworks such as Flask or Node.js.
✓Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, Redis, or similar, including writing queries and working with ORMs.
✓Proficiency with Git and common branching, pull request, and code review workflows.
✓Familiarity with unit and integration testing frameworks (i.e. Jest, Playwright, PyTest) and a solid understanding of testable design.
✓Strong analytical and debugging skills with a focus on problem-solving and solution delivery.
✓Familiarity with agile development practices, including Scrum or Kanban.
✓Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
